A little about me

John Rudy worked for a decade as a Park Ranger and Interpretive Trainer with the National Park Service's Interpretive Development Program in Harpers Ferry, WV, creating interpretive training materials for park rangers and interpreters across the entire park system. Breaking new ground in audience-centered experiences and facilitated dialogue for the National Park Service, the Interpretive Development Program was a leader in pushing the National Park Service to use new and innovative communication strategies to help visitors find deep meaning in park resources.

In the field of history, he studies abolition, the coming of the Civil War, and the impact of war on everyday Americans. His focuses also include racial dynamics in the aftermath of emancipation and the long legacy of historic landscapes.
